Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Please take note: Smokey former owner stated she has been around children and is relaxed and affectionate. She has not been around other dogs but has lived with 6 other cats and is relaxed, affectionate, and respectful of them. Also, she was described as confident, affectionate, and friendly. However, her previous owner does note one major concern: Smokey urinates outside the box a few times a week. We advise any potential adopter to be prepared for this behavior, and prepared manage it if it appears in a future home. Methods of managing and attempting to modify this behavior can be discussed with the Adoption Counselors. Reaction to assessor: Smokey looks neutral in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Smokey remains crouched down at the front of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Smokey accepts the stroke and head-butts the assessor’s hand. However, she stops in place then becomes cautious with sudden noises and draws attention towards her surroundings . Reaction to Being Picked up: She calmly jumped back into her cage. Placement determination: Average Smokey interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
