SLIDELL – A1058003

Safe 11-29-2015 Manhattan

Previous | Next

***SAFE 11/29/15*** SECOND CHANCE FOR SLIDELL……MONROE AND HER SISTER SLIDELL ARE A GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHY YOU SHOULD MAKE PLANS FOR YOUR CATS IN THE EVENT OF ILLNESS!!! NOW THEY ARE AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA BECAUSE THEIR OWNER WHO PASSED DIDN’T PLAN FOR THEIR SAFETY!!! MONROE and SLIDELL’s Story reads: ‘ Monroe & Slidell were brought in as strays. The finder found her in an apartment of the owner who passed away, the finder placed Monroe & Slidell in a cat carrier and brought them to the shelter. The finder had never interacted with the cats so no information could be provided during intake. Intake Behavior: During intake Monroe & Slidell were both relaxed with soft body.’ Both these girls really deserve a chance to live-they have shelter colds, nothing that can’t be helped with antiotics. But the ACC has decided these lovely girls won’t get that chance-they will be put up for one night only for someone to reach out and save…and if they don’t, they will have their short lives ended. Don’t let that happen!!! Save these sisters tonight!!!!

11/25/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Who’s ready for a heapin’ helping of purry, squinty-eyed Slidell-style hospitality? This little homebody loves to entertain guests, and in response to my arrival she rubs her cheek on the bed, the edge of the litter box and finally my hand in greeting before bunting her forehead up into my palm to ask for more. Still in mourning for the home and companionship she lost when her owner passed away, Slidell’s bravely trying to make the best of things by meeting new friends and keeping herself entertained with all the comings and goings of the Care Center. Toys and treats are enjoyed but her favorite entertainment is always socializing, and if you stop by for a visit she’ll be glad to show off her sweetest side. Like many middle-aged cats, Slidell prefers things to be done a certain way and she’s looking for a quiet adult-only family where she can slowly settle back into a familiar happy kitty routine of eat-sleep-snuggle-repeat. Are you ready to welcome the cutest little lady at the Care Center home for good?

11/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Slidell looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Slidell remains lying down on her cage bedding, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Slidell accepts the stroke on the head, but slightly roll over to one side with ears down sideways then began to hiss and swat (no claws) at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: Experienc / no child Slidell tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
