SIMON – A1053353

**SAFE 10/09/15** AVERAGE-rated SIMON had an adopter lined up, but then he tested positive for FELV and those arrangements fell through. This is a SUPER kitten who has lived happily with kids, who came in with another cat named Brewskie, and who is just an all-around GOOD BOY. SIMON needs someone who will get him retested and then give him a happily-ever-after. If YOU are that person, whether you can foster or adopt, please step up for Simon tonight! Otherwise, he will be just one more cold lump in an ACC freezer by this time tomorrow.

10/01/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/01/15 12:42 BASIC INFO Simon and Brewskie are brothers. Their family got them from a friend 1 year ago when they were kittens. They surrendered them due to lack of time. SOCIALIZATION Simon and Brewskie are friendly/outgoing with strangers. They lived with 2 children ages 4 and 8 and were relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. They play exuberantly with people. They never had any toys but often ran around and played with the children. Simon and Brewskie are relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant and play exuberantly together. They’ve never bit/scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Simon and Brewskie are mostly littertrained but also urinate and defecate in the kitchen sink. Their uncovered litterbox with clay litter is kept in the bathroom, so it may be possible that the bathroom door is shut when they potty in the sink. They also steal food from the sink. They enjoy being picked up/held and don’t mind when someone puts them in a carrier or wakes them up. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Simon and Brewskie’s family describes them as friendly, affectionate, playful, quiet, and medium energy. They follow their family around and sit in their laps. Brewskie lived only inside. Simon sometimes left through a window and roamed outside for a day. The cats ate dry Meow Mix food. They scratched the walls and a couch but never had a scratching post. INTAKE Simon and Brewskie were a little tense with wide eyes and low bodies while we picked them up, scanned them (-), collared them, positioned them for pictures, and put them into a carrier. They were easy to handle and didn’t resist/retreat/vocalize.

10/04/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per the previous owner, Simon is friendly and outgoing with strangers. He lived with children ages 4 and 8 and was relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. He plays exuberantly with people and often ran around and played with the children. He was relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and playful with his feline brother. He never bit or scratched anyone. He was friendly, affectionate, playful, and quiet with a medium energy level. Reaction to assessor: Simon was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Simon rolls onto his back and rubs his cheeks on his litter box. Reaction to cage door opening: Simon remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Simon leans on the assessor’s hand, head-butts, and begins to purr and knead. Reaction to being picked up: Simon remains calm and allows handling. Note: The previous owner report that Simon has been eliminating in the kitchen sink. His uncovered litter box with clay litter is kept in the bathroom, so it may be possible that the bathroom door is shut when they use the bathroom in the sink. We are unaware if any modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure if the location of the litter box triggered this behavior or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment. Behavior Determination: Average Simon interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
