05/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Owner Profile: Samba was bought to the care center by his previous owner due to behavior problems. Samba lived with two adults and two teenagers. The previos owner stated that Samba is very energetic and likes jumping. Samba has not been exposed to other cats and dogs so his behavior owards other animals are unknown. Samba is litter box trained. Notes: Initially Samba solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body he begins to hiss and growl at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Samba becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. Reaction to assessor: comes to the front of the cage, calm and relaxed (1) When spoken quietly: stays at front, continues to be calm and relaxed (1) Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft & relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: allows petting for a limited time before hissing and growling (1) Try picking cat up: not tolerant of this type of handling Placement Determination: Experience no child
