03/22/15 15:18 Basic Information Simba is a 2yr old neutured male cat that has no past or current medical issues according to the owner. However in the las 2weeks he has been chewing at his tail. Social Life & Personality Simba has been around children and interacts with them in a gentle manor. He has lived with cats and gets along with them very well. The owner isn’t sure how he would respond in the presence of a dog due to never having one around. Simba is an indoor only cat that is litter box trained. Simba is described to be friendly, playful, and affectionate with a high activity level. Behavior Issues Simba takes well to all grooming agents and this applies to baths, nail trims, coat brushings and things to that nature. The owner explained that this can be done without issue. He enjoys being held and will allow you to handle him for long periods of time. He takes well to cat carriers and will practically walk right in. For a New Family to Know Simba was brought up using shredded paper and a standard litter box. He enjoys all sorts of cat toys and will play with just about anything according to the owner. Simba had a scratching post and used it pretty often. When in the home Simba is the type to follow you around seeking attention. Simba was brought up eating dry food and there was no specific brand that the owner gave.

03/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Simba was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, he rolls onto his side and shifts his body, and then rubs his cheeks against his litter box. Reaction to cage door opening: Simba remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Simba was hesitant of touch, moving his head away from the assessor’s hand. He looks at the assessor with dilated eyes, but eventually head-butts lightly. He meows softly and his ears bend slightly sideways during touch. He may be unsure and insecure of touch. Reaction to toy or novel object: Simba shows no interest in playing. As per previous owner, Simba has been around children and interacts with the in a gentle manner. He has also lived with cats, in which he got along with very well. They describe his as friendly, playful, and affectionate with a high activity level. Behavior Determination: Experience Simba tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. During his initial medical exam he was nervous and fearful, but has acclimated well into the care center and was noted to be playful and enjoys petting. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
