She is fearful and trying to defend herself and has a NEW HOPE rating……She is estimated to be two years old and could be someone’s new best friend if someone will step up for her! I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/02/2015 from NY 10306, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. I came in with Group/Litter #K15-038077.

11/02/15 11:38 Profile wasn’t left due to animals being stray. Behavior During Intake: Sheyco was brought into the facility in a trap by the finder with another cat. Upon arrival Sheyco appeared to be afraid and was at the back of the trap. When I reached to attempt to pet her she hissed, swatted and darted around the trap in attempts to flee. Due to this behavior I was not able to handle her at the time of intake.

Sheyco came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Sheyco was fearful and did not allow handling. Reaction to assessor: Sheyco is hiding in the den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sheyco retreats further while in her den. Reaction to cage door opening: Sheyco hisses at the assessor. Reaction to touch: Sheyco hisses, moves away from touch, and raises a paw to swat. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Sheyco avoids interaction with the assessor and appears to be fearful of handling. Sheyco is exhibiting behavior suited to rescue partners.
