SHERLOCK – A1059665
Gone 12-11-2015 Manhattan
*** GONE 12/11/15 *** SHY SWEET SHERLOCK ONE YEAR OLD TOSSED TO THE CURB BY HEARTLESS FAMILY…Imagine you are adopted as a little guy-you do all sorts of fun cat things, playing chase, catching brooms and wrestling them, being petted, and being a good boy cat. Then one day one of your people scoop you up and carry you away from it all, to a place with strange smells and cold metal floors. You are prodded and poked. Then your family go away…and they don’t come back. They are all you know. And they aren’t there. And other people are-but who are they? What are you doing here?…. and such is SHERLOCK’S new life at ACC which will end for the frightened one year old tomorrow. He’s a big kitten, really. He swatted at someone at ACC-but was headbutting before he remembered they weren’t his family. Out of that scary place SHERLOCK can and will trust again, but he needs that chance. Will you save his life, say ‘yes’ and get him out of there? SHERLOCK is just a youngster-and has lived in a home, known what it was like. Please save his life.

12/05/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/05/15 10:21 BASIC INFO Sherlock is a 1 year old male DSH cat. His family got him from a friend when he was a kitten. They surrendered him because they’re moving to a home that doesn’t allow pets. SOCIALIZATION Sherlock is shy with new people. He plays somewhat rough with adults. He hasn’t spent time with children or other pets. He’s never bit/scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Sherlock attacks brooms when his family sweeps. He doesn’t mind when someone brushes him, puts him in a carrier, or wakes him up. Sometimes, he doesn’t mind being picked up. Other times, he struggles to jump away. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Sherlock’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, talkative, and medium energy. He follows his family and cuddles on their chests. He lived inside and ate dry Meow Mix cat food. He’s littertrained, used an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter, and didn’t have accidents. He scratched a vertical scratching post covered in rope and carpet in addition to a leather couch. INTAKE Sherlock was tense with dilate pupils, retreated to the back of his carrier. I removed the top and he put his face down in the corner of the carrier while I pet, scanned (-), and collared him. He growled quietly while I picked him up and placed him on the counter. He was quiet and didn’t move much while we took his pictures, lying down with is feet tucked under his chest against the back of his back drop. He growled quietly again while I put him in his kennel but he never hissed or resisted.

12/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Sherlock looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Sherlock remains hiding in his cat den, curious with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Sherlock walks out of the cat den and slowly began to head-butt the assessor’s hand but becomes anxious with the touch then meow whines and swats. Placement determination: NH ONLY Sherlock is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is extremely stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
