SHATOU – A1057340

Gone 11-13-2015 Brooklyn

Previous | Next

**GONE 11/13/15** SHATOU just got a slap in the face NY his previous owner when he DUMPED SHATOU at the ACC because he had “no time” and thought he was better off at the ACC and hoped to find a new owner! WRONG! He’s here waiting to die unless someone contacts a New Hope Rescue and offers to FOSTER or ADOPT! So of course, SHATOU is not happy…tried to bite, hissed and scratch! It’s only natural for this guy to be scared and unhappy! PLEASE, offer to FOSTER or ADOPT SHATOU…uncork him and let him breath and in no time he will be a taste you won’t want to get out of your mouth!

11/09/15 12:13 BASIC INFORMATION Shatou is a 2 year old Domestic Shorthair that was given to his prior owner as a gift when his other cat had passed away. He has no known injuries or health problems. He has turned to ACC to seek placement becuase he currently is working too many hours and feels quilty that he does not spenf time with Shatou. Client hopes that Shatou will find new owners that will give him the attention that he deserves. SOCILIZATION Shatou has not been around children, but is relaxed and respectful around dogs. Shatou has not been exposed to any other cats so his behavior around them is unknown. Shatou is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. his prior box was hooded and filled with any clumping brand litter. His activity level is described as low. He mostly lounges around, then eats, and plays minimally. He can also be described as confident, friendly, assertive, affectionate and quiet. BEHAVIOR Shatou has never been given a bath nor had his nails trimmed. He enjoys having his coat brushed and being picked up. Owner stated he struggled when being placed in any eclosure (cat carrier, suit case, etc.). He isn’t bothered if he is disturbed while sleeping. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Shatou had a scratching post that he used; it was made of rough rope. When his previous owners were home Shatou would tend to follow them around and liked to be in the same room. Shatou never really played with his previous owners but once in a while would seek attention to be pet. He is used to eating wet and dry food mix 9 lives brand. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE During intake Shatou was not interested in meeting anyone. He kept to himself and would avoid making eye contact with an admissions counselor. Shatou scanned negative for a microchip.

Shatou was bought into the care center due to his previous owner no longer having time for him. Shatou has not been around children. He is said to be relaxed and respectful around dogs. Shatou has not been exposed to any other cats so his behavior around them is unknown. Shatou is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. His activity level is described as low. He can also be described as confident, friendly, assertive, affectionate and quiet. Reaction to assessor: Shatou was hiding when I approach cage When spoken quietly: Shatou continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening: Shatou becomes alert Reaction to touch: Shatou growls, hisses and strikes. He does not allows petting at all. Try picking cat up: Shatou did not attempt to pick the cat up due fractious behavior. Behavior Determination: NewHope Shatou seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment. Shatou was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
