05/11/15 15:41 Basic information Scout is an 11 year black neutered male domestic short hair cat. Scout is being surrendered because his family says he is no longer happy in their home. Scout has been with his family for over 10 years. Social life and personality Scout lived with 2 adults and 1 other cat who passed away not long ago. Scout was very fond of the other cat and used to play exhuberantly with him. Recently Scout has been joined in his home by 2 new toddlers but he does not play or interact with them. He was exposed to another dog who he lived with for a week in his home. They made an introduction but stayed away from each other for the duration of the visit. Scout does use his litter box but has had trouble marking and eliminating in different part of the house. Behavior Scout will struggle and is fearful of both nail trims and bathing. Scout can be picked up but his family says it is best to let him come to you. Scout likes to wander and has escaped the home several times. Owner reports that Scout likes the outdoors. Lately Scout has become reclusive and will spend alot of time hiding when the family is home. For a new family to know Scout is an explorer and though he had his own toys he preferred to find his own objects to play with. He had a scratching post but preferred scratching on the carpet. When the family is home in the past he used to like to be where they are but recently Scout has been hiding and tends to flee from family members. Scout eats both wet and dry food. Upon intake Scout was quiet but receptive to introduction. He was loose but weary and allowed counselor to scan for microchip (positive) collar and photograph. Scout was food motivated and was interested in cat food but was otherwise very still and did not want to explore the room. Scout was easily replaced to the carrier.
