06/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Scorpion was stiff and alert upon approach. When softly spoken to, she focuses on the assessor with wide eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Scorpion remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Scorpion was very hesitant of touch and tries to move away, but allows gentle petting on her head and back and is immobile. Her ears bend sideways and she seems unsure of touch. Note: Scorpion was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder reported there were kids in the area that were abusing the cat with sticks and were poking and scaring her. It is unknown whether the cat was injured from the children, but she was found limping. She was hissing and striking upon intake, but it may be due to fear from the traumatic event and/or her injury. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Scorpion tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may need time to warm up in her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
