SAMMY – A1055202
Safe 10-21-2015 Manhattan Rescue: All Sentient Beings Please honor your pledges: http://animalloversnetwork.org/
***SAFE 10/21/15***SUPER SWEET SENIOR SAMMY NEEDS RETIREMENT HOME! Sad sigh! Who in the world can dump a precious pet like Sammy after he was a faithful feline friend since kittenhood? Ugh—Sammy’s former owner—that’s who. This great guy came into the shelter a couple of days ago due to “allergies.” Apparently, the owner has developed severe nasal allergies. Ahchoo! Another BS excuse. Sammy is a purrfect gentleman who has lived with other cats and kids. He is a real cuddler, snuggler and def the kind of kitty you’d want to curl up next to you on the couch. This sweetheart could use a geriatric workup at a competent vet. But please don’t let it end tomorrow afternoon for this great guy who aced his behavior eval with an awesome pawesome average rating. Won’t you please open up your heart and home to sweet senior Sammy? You can reserve him online or let a rescue know if you can help. Transportation is available. Let’s help write a happy ending to this darling boy’s sad tale. Sammy only has tonight. We are his only hope. Don’t let him down!!!

10/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sammy lived for 12 years with four adults and one teenager. He is reported to be tolerant of being picked up and pet, but he may not like being pet on the rear end and may be shy around new people. Sammy’s previous owner reports that he was sometimes defecating outside the litterbox, though he would also go inside the box. We are unaware of what, if any, modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior. We are also unaware of how his age may be influencing this change in behavior. We cannot be sure whether this behavior will continue in a home environment after treatment for the medical condition has been completed, but we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. Sammy’s previous owners state that an ideal new home would be busy and active, with many people, saying that Sammy is “not the type of cat that needs constant attention BUT enjoys the ability to go to person to person.” He enjoys cuddling on clothes and pillows. Sammy has been easy to handle since intake. Reaction to assessor: Sammy is resting in his condo, relaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains relaxed. Reaction to touch: Sammy tolerates petting on the head and body, and is interested in interacting with the assessor. Behavior determination: Average Sammy interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
