Sam is a super loving and friendly 13 yo old terrific tabby who lost her home when her loved one went into the hospital and family members didn’t want to care for her. This lovely lady was adopted from the shelter several years ago and finds herself in dire need of rescue once again. She needs a full geriatric workup with a competent vet but this great gal would make a purrfect pal who is looking for a calm, gentle and low maintenance feline friend. 09/16/15 15:30 Basic Information: Sam is a 13 year old spayed domestic short hair cat that has no past or current medical issues according to the owner. Social Life & Personality: Sam has been around children and is somewhat fearful. It takes a while for her to warm up to them. When she is comfortable, she plays gently with them. Around other cats, Sam is very tolerant and gentle. Around other dogs, Sam is fearful and will usually run away. Sam is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. She is described as having a medium activity level and is shy, mellow, and quiet. Behavior Issues: Sam has never bitten a person or another animal before. She is afraid and it is usually a struggle to give her a bath, trim her nails, and put her into a carrier. She does enjoy having her coat brushed. Sam has no litter box problems. For a New Family to Know: Sam uses clumping litter in a hooded litter box. She does not have any interest in toys and will rarely interact with them. Previous owner stated that a scratching post may be necessary, due to the fact that she did indeed scratch his favorite chair. When in the home, Sam is the type of cat to rarely seek attention and is very independent. She played gently with the previous owner. When in the car, she does meow and cry. She was fed both wet and dry food, meow mix friskies and fansy feast. She does enjoy catnip very much! Behavior Upon Intake: Sam was meowing and crying in her carrier. She allowed handling and was able to be scanned for a microchip. Not much handling was done upon intake.
