SAFE 04/13/15 – RUDDY – A1032700 – MANHATTAN, NY

FRIENDLY-AT-FIRST YOUNG GINGER BOY IS FeLV+ AND NEEDS A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT – PLEASE GRANT RUDDY A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here” might as well be the inscription on the photo of poor RUDDY, a handsome two-year-old ginger boy, who entered the kill-happy ACC as an FeLV+ STRAY. At first, Ruddy was “FRIENDLY” and allowed all handling, but he quickly realized that the ACC is a Death Camp for Kitties, so he was PUNISHED for his fear with New Hope Only and fast-tracked to the noon kill list for tomorrow. Please know that most cats that become FeLV+ conquer the virus and recover. Their bodies mount an immune attack against the virus, producing antibodies that cure them or keep the virus in check. Ruddy will revert back to his usual lovebug self, once he escapes the ACC hellhole. Please start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt FeLV+ ginger boy RUDDY! If you can’t save RUDDY yourself, please SHARE his sad story and PLEDGE for his rescue!

04/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Ruddy was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, he looks at the assessor with relaxed eyes and remains lying down on his bedding. Reaction to cage door opening: Ruddy slowly retreats to the back of his cage. Reaction to touch: Ruddy attempts to avoid touch by backing away from the assessor’s hand. He becomes uncomfortable; his ears bend sideways, hisses at the hand, and growls when touched briefly on his head. When touched on his body, he swats and hisses. Note: Ruddy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder stated that he allowed them to pick him up to bring him into the care center. He was easy to handle during his initial medical exam, but he slowly became less tolerant to handling throughout his stay in the care center. It is difficult to determine at this point, how much of those reactions may be due to his medical condition. Behavior Determination: NH ONLY Ruddy is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
