08/01/15 19:03 Litter Mates : Tabby : A1046295 Roxy : A1046297 Lila : A1046298 Roxy is a 1 yrs. old all black cat who was surrendered with her other litter mates at ACC today. Roxy appears to be healthy but is not spayed at this time. Roxy is described a a cat who can be calm and independent on occassion. Roxy has not been socialized with children or dogs at this time. Roxy has however been socialized with other cats and is described as being respectful tolerant and relaxed around other cats. Roxy will also play in a gentle and respectful manner. Roxy is house trained and will use her litter box. Roxy is an indoor cat with a low level of activity. Roxy has been described as shy assertive aloof quiet and independent. Roxy has not been bathed or had her fur brushed but she will struggle when having her nails trimmed. Roxy will struggle when she is picked up or placed in a carrier. Roxy is not bothered when she is disturbed from her sleep. Roxy uses clumping litter in an open litter box. Roxy is relaxed when she is being transported in a car. Roxy likes to play with balls and engage in chasing games. Roxy likes to use a vertical smooth wood scratching post. Roxy will stay in her favorite spot on the floor in the home and will sleep wherever she wants to. Roxy eats dry food twice a day. Roxy was nervous and stressed throughout the Intake process. Roxy meowed struggled and hissed when being transferred into a new carrier. Roxy did not allow herself to be collared but did allow herself to be photographed inside of her carrier. Roxy was nervous and stressed due to being in a new environment.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Roxy was hiding under paper upon approach. Her eyes dilate and she focuses on the assessor when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Roxy remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Roxy retreats from the assessor’s hand and attempts to avoid touch. She allows brief petting on her head, but hisses and swats afterwards. As per previous owner, Roxy has not been socialized with children or dogs. However, around cats she is respectful, tolerant, and relaxed. She plays gently and is a respectful manner. Roxy has been described as shy, assertive, aloof, quiet, and independent with a low activity level. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Roxy is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, she is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and she does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
