Notes: Rose was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to was seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment rose was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to flee and is extremely fearful. Rose currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Reaction to assessor: was hiding when I approach cage (3) When spoken quietly: continues to hide (3) Reaction to door cage opening: becomes stiff, alert (3) Reaction to touch: hisses, tries to flee (4) Reaction to toy or novel object: hisses, growls, try to flee (4) Try picking cat up: not tolerant of this type of handling, very afraid, hisses and tries to flee.
