I am the test to those worthy enough to see beyond my fear and extend a hand and say ‘come home, for you are most welcome. With time, we shall dance and I will tap your heart with my paw and your soul with my purr. But to do that, you must save me now’. RIVER SPIRIT is deemed, due to fear, a NEW HOPE cat, which means you need a rescue to pull him. Like many cats captured as a stray, he’s been deemed too frightened to be handled-but look at his coat-this is probably a frightened cat thats either gotten out or been abandoned. Will you save RIVER SPIRIT and give him the time he needs to trust? Otherwise he will perish tomorrow.

Notes: River Spirit was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to was seeing during the evaluation. He seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment River Spirit was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Reaction to assessor: was hiding when I approach cage (3) When spoken quietly: continues to hide (3) Reaction to door cage opening: retreats (3) Reaction to touch: hisses avoids being touched(4) Try picking cat up: not tolerant of this type of handling, very afraid, hisses Placement Determination: NewHope
