11/17/15 16:46 Basic Information: Rachel is a 1 year old female domestic short hair cat. She is not declawed and was found as a stray in September. She had to be surrendered due to pet conflict. She wasn’t taken to a vet but has no known injuries or health problems. She can be described as affectionate and sweet. Social Life and Personality: Rachel was no around children in her previous home. Around cats she is fearful and around Shih Tzu’s she is respectful. She is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. She has a medium activity level and can be described as playful, shy, friendly, talkative, affectionate and independent. Behavior: Rachel has never bitten a person or animal. Her previous owners did not attempt to bathe her, trim her nails or brush her coat. If she is picked up or held she is friendly. When being placed in a carrier she struggles. She isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Rachel used clumping cat litter in a hooded litter box. She liked to play with balls, string and wand toys. She used the furniture to scratch on. When her previous owners were home she would tend to follow them around and when she played she was exuberant. She ate both wet and dry Friskies and at night she slept in her owner’s room. Behavior during intake: Rachel allowed me to pick her up, collar her, pet her and take pictures without showing signs of aggression.

Rachel was not around children in her previous home. Around cats she is fearful and around Shih Tzu’s she is respectful. She has a medium activity level and can be described as playful, shy, friendly, talkative, affectionate and independent. Reaction to assessor: Rachel looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Rachel remains sitting upright on her cage bedidng, alert with soft eyes, meowing attention. Reaction to touch: Rachel head-butts the assessor’s hand, purrs in place, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: She calmly jumps back into her cage. Placement determination: Average Rachel interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
