QUESO – A1044381
7-28-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 07/28/15*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY PURRING TUXIE GIRL, DUMPED WHEN HER OLD OWNER WAS HOSPITALIZED, ALLOWED PETTING AT FIRST, BUT NOW WILL DIE DUE TO HER FEAR – PLEASE GRANT QUESO A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! Gorgeous three-year-old tuxie charmer QUESO found herself stuffed into the kill-happy ACC after her old owner had to be HOSPITALIZED. During intake, Queso ALLOWED ALL HANDLING! During her behavior test, she was sweet, even PURRING until her FEAR took over: “Queso remains lying down on her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Queso accepts the stroke, solicits attention, and purrs in place however, she becomes overly aroused during the touch and began to meow whine, leans away from the assessor’s hand and hisses.” Poor Queso was fast-tracked to the noon kill list for tomorrow, despite the fact that this EXCELLENT young cat is PERFECTLY HEALTHY! The ACC claims that they don’t kill healthy cats, but Queso is PROOF that they DO INDEED kill them on a daily basis. Please start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt betrayed darling tuxie girl QUESO from the approved New Hope rescue groups! If you can’t save QUESO yourself, please SHARE her sad story and PLEDGE for her rescue!

07/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Queso looks neutral in her cage when appoached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Queso remains lying down on her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Queso accepts the stroke, solicits attention, and purrs in place however, she becomes overly aroused during the touch and began to meow whine, leans away from the assessor’s hand and hisses. Placement determination: NH ONLY Initially Queso solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body he she begins meow whine and hiss at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Queso becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
