12/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess’s previous owner stated that she has lived with a 13 year old child. She would allow her family to hold and pet her. She has lived with a Yorkshire terrier, but they were kept apart. She has hissed and lunged at the dog in the past. She was kept indoors and normally follows her owner around the home. She will stay to herself when there is company over. She will come out and rub against visitors who she was familiar with, but if she is scared or frightened she may hiss and run off. Reaction to assessor: Princess was calm and relaxed by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Princess meows and sniffs the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Princess remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Princess sniffs the assessor rigidly and is hesitant with touch, but she does show interest and rolls over when coaxed. However, she will retreat after brief petting and focus on the assessor’s hand. She only allows touch when approached slowly and will lift her paw up as a warning for when she has had enough. If you continue to pet her and ignore the warning, she will hiss and swipe. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Princess tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
