Nine-year-old gray and white sweetheart PRINCESS has a heartbreaking back story: “She was given to the owners by a family member (sister). The sister moved and left the cat. Princess was surrendered because they cannot afford the vet costs”. Princess had surgery in 2014 for pyometra and an emergency spay, but now she is suffering from “large multiple masses” all along her nipples. At home, Princess was “friendly and outgoing. Around strangers, Princess is shy for the first few minutes around strangers but will warm up and want to be pet(ted). She loves to be held and plays well with adults. She has also been around dogs and is relaxed and affectionate around dogs. She loves being held and carried. She also loves to sleep on the owners chest and bed”. Princess is described as “very affectionate, friendly, quiet, independent and assertive. She followed the family around and her favorite place to sleep was under the kitchen table”. Princess was surrendered because they can not afford the vet costs. Princess has a lump on her stomach, a small open wound on her face and had surgery in 2014. Princess is friendly and outgoing. Around strangers, Princess is shy for the first few minutes around strangers but will warm up and want to be pet. She loves to be held and plays well with adults. She is fearful around smaill children. Princess lived with a 2-3 year old cat. Around the cat, she is territorial and aggressive. She has also been around dogs but is relaxed and affectionate around dogs. After her surgery in 2014, Princess began to scratch on the furntiture. She also began having accidents outside of the litter box. Princess has an accident about once a day. She has seen a vet for this problem and they were told that the cat may be diabetic. Princess enjoys getting a bath as long as she is comfortable and feels secure by holding her front paws. She loves being held and carried. She also loves to sleep on the owners chest and bed. She isnt bothered by getting put inside of the carrier. Princess’ family describes her as being very affectionate, friendly, quiet, independent and assertive. She followed the family around and her favorite place to sleep was under the kitchen table. Shes lived mostly indoors. Princess ate meow mix and meow mix treats. She used a unhooded litterbox with fresh step crystal litter. During intake, Princess was easy to handle, scan and collar.

Princess has an accident about once a day. Reaction to assessor: Princess immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: The cat remains at the front of the cage, soft and relaxed, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: The cat rubs on the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. Placement determination: Experience The cat’s behavior in kennel earned her a Beginner rating however, due to litter box accidents with the previous owner the cat is rated Experience. We advise potential adopters to be aware that this behavior may continue in a home environment, and that they be comfortable with management and modification techniques for this behavioral challenge.
