*** SAFE 06/02/15 *** PRINCE MITT IS OK WITH KIDS AND DOGS…..but he’s a little rough on his feline compatriots….PRINCE MITT is a year and a half old but his owner’s didn’t get him neutered so he’s a ball of energy who needs a little “fixing” and some proper play boundaries. He was very relaxed with the family dog. His owners never used toys to play with him (???) so this young man would probably welcome a grab bag of interesting toys. PLEASE HELP PRINCE MITT TONIGHT…HIS FAMILY DIDN’T DO RIGHT BY HIM AND DIDN’T GIVE HIM THE TOOLS HE NEEDED TO FIT IN….This is a bright and sweet young cat who just needs a little TIME and TLC….PLEASE OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT TONITE!!

05/14/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/14/15 18:43 BASIC INFO Prince’s family found him as a stray 1 year ago. They surrendered him because he was playing rough with their older cat and due to lack of time. SOCIALIZATION Prince Mittens hides from new people. He lived with 3 and 6 year old children. He mostly ignored them but allowed them to pet him. He plays somewhat rough with people, biting during play (no broken skin). He lived with a geriatric female cat. He tried to play rough with her (biting-no broken skin) and she hid from him. He spent time with a large dog and was relaxed and affectionate with him. They played well together. Prince has bit the cat and humans in his family but has never broken skin. BEHAVIOR Prince Mittens scratches furniture but never had a scratching post. He doesn’t mind being woken up. He scratches and bites during baths (no broken skin). He struggles when picked up or put in a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Prince Mittens’ family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, independent, talkative, and medium energy. He spends a lot of his time hiding under furniture. He has not been played with using toys. He lived inside, ate dry Purina food, and enjoyed people food. He’s littertrained and doesn’t have accidents. He used an uncovered litterbox with clay litter. INTAKE Prince Mittens was tense and meowing but allowed all handling-picking up, putting in kennel, scanning (negative), collaring, petting, and photographing. He was easy to handle and didn’t resist/retreat/vocalize (except meowing).

05/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Prince Mittens was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. When softly spoken to, he remains sitting upright and tries to sniff the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Prince Mittens becomes alert and wraps his tail close to his body. Reaction to touch: Prince Mittens meows very softly and was hesitant of touch, but allows stroke on his head and his back. After a little while, he warms up and rolls on his back, begins to purr, and head-butts the assessor’s hand. Reaction to being picked up: Prince Mittens remains calm and allows handling. As per previous owner, Prince Mittens hides from new people. He has lived with children ages 3 and 6. He mostly kept to himself, but allowed them to pet him. They reported he played rough with people and with the older cat he lived with. He would nip during play, but never breaking skin. He has also lived with a large dog, in which he was relaxed and affectionate with. They said he scratched furniture, but was never provided with a scratching post. They described him as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, independent, talkative, and medium energy. Behavior Determination: Experience Prince Mittens interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. However, based on the information that was provided by his previous owners, he may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to his tendency to play rough, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
