Basic Information: Poochie is a 8 year old altered male domestic shorthair. Owner brought him from a pet store when he was 6 months old. Owner surrenders Poochie due to living situations. Social Life and Personality: Poochie lived with adults but been around children. Owner stated Poochie is friendly with children but if he doesn’t want to be bothered he will run away. Poochie behavior is unknown towards other cats but lived with a Maltese and he is playful with that dog in the household. He is indoors only and activity level is low. Owner describes Poochie as shy and quiet. Behavior Issues: Poochie never bitten and scratched anyone to owner’s knowledge. Poochie is declawed on his front paws. Poochie is afraid of taking baths and will meow when he wants to escape. Poochie loves being brushed and held only if he knows the person. For a New Family to Know: Poochie is litter box trained and uses a uncovered litter box. Poochie doesn’t play with toys anymore but when he is bored he likes to come to anyone with a stuffed toy. Owner stated Poochie likes to lay on anything black or paper. Poochie will follow owner around the house or be in owner son’s room. Poochie eats dry food in little portions and sleeps in owner’s bed. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Poochie was calm and relaxed. Poochie scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

He was playful with the dog in the household. He is indoors only and activity level is low. Poochie is described as shy and quiet. Notes: At the time of the assessment Poochie was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Poochie is displaying behavior appropriate for a beginner cat owner.
