BASIC INFORMATION:
Pinky is an altered 8 year old domestic short hair. She was bought from Petland has a kitten and is being surrendered because of her lifelong battle with allergies that are forcing to surrendered her beloved cat of 8 years. Pinky would visit the vet on an annual basis and has no known health injuries or health problems.
SOCIAL LIFE AND PERSONALITY:
Pinky has been socialized with children aged 2 years old and up. She is relaxed, respectful, and usually tolerant of the children. She has not been socialized with other cats or dogs to know how she would interact with them. The owner describes Pinky as playful, confident, mellow, friendly, assertive, shy with new people, talkative, affectionate, and independent.
BEHAVIOR:
Pinky is tolerant of baths. She is brought to a groomer for her nails to be trimmed. She enjoys being picked up, held, and brushed. She struggles some when placed in a carrier. She is not bothered when disturbed from sleep.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW:
Pinky is used to crystal cat litter inside a hooded litter box. She likes to play will balls, wand toys, catnip, string, stuffed toys, and toy mice. She likes to scratch on her circular horizontal post that is surrendered by a plastic ball. Pinky knows the commands sit, come, and no. When her owner is home she likes to follow her around and sit on her. She is gentle during play. She will meow at first but relax during car rides. She is used it eating dry cat food and is given Fancy Feast wet cat food as a treat. She likes to sleep in her cat condo, in bed, and her folding chair.
ADMISSIONS BEHAVIOR:
Pinky was sitting in the back of the carrier. She allowed to be pet and lifted her chin when she was pet. She allowed to be lift up but struggled coming out of the carrier. The carrier was taken apart and Pinky was picked up and placed on the counter for her photos. When on the counter, she was tense but did not move. She allowed to be scanned and collared. When the carrier was placed on the counter she walked back in herself. Pinky did not show any aggressive behaviors such as, growling, hissing, swatting, or biting.
Pinky is being surrendered because her owner has allergies. She has allergies her whole life and still has had cats as pets because she did not care about dealing with her allergy problems. Her owner is now 62 and she is becoming sick more often and each time the illness is becoming worse. Everytime the owner visits her allergiest they tell her she has to surrender her cat. Recently, ther owner’s grandson has moved in and her grandson has allergies also. The owner has been on medication, clears her house a lot, keeps Pinky out of the bedrooms but she finally is forced to surrender for her and her grandson’s health.
Pinky’s previous owner states that she has been around children ages 2 years old and older. She is relaxed, respectful, and usually tolerant of children. She has never been around other cats or dogs, but she was described as playful, confident, mellow, friendly, assertive, and shy with new people, talkative, affectionate, and independent. She enjoys being picked up, held, and brushed.
Reaction to assessor: Pinky was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Pinky comes to the front and head-butts the cage door.
Reaction to cage door opening: Pinky remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Pinky head-butts, begins to purr, and rubs her cheeks on the assessor’s hand. She is very affectionate throughout the interaction.
Reaction to pick up: Pinky remains calm and allows handling.
Placement Determination: Beginner
Pinky interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
