*SAFE* 06/11/15 A staff member writes….This little one and half year old is friendly and comes forward for petting. She has a”corneal ulceration” in her right eye which could be the result of a street fight. The scratch in her eye doesn’t stop this lovable calico/white tabby. She is active and quite attentive when pet, She loves attention and affection.
A volunteer writes: I started to pet Phoenix and within a minute or 2 she was on her back for tummy rubs! According to her previous owner, she has lived with other cats and gets along great with them. She is super playful and very energetic, sweet and affectionate. If you want an only cat or an addition to a multi-cat household, here is your girl!

Around strangers Phoenix is very friendly and outgoing. When she plays with adults she is very gentle. Phoenix has no experience with children or any other animals except for cats. Phoenix is relaxed, affectionate, and respectful of other cats. Also, describes her as Friendly, affectionate,and playful with a very high activity level.
Reaction to assessor: Phoenix immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage.
Reaction to door opening: Phoenix remains at the front of the cage, soft and relaxed, soliciting attention.
Reaction to touch: Phoenix rubs on the assessor’s hand, purrs, and appreciates petting on the head and body.
Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm.
Placement determination: Beginner
Phoenix interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.

Basic Information:
Phoenix is a 1 and a half year old Female Calico who was surrendered due to the owner having too many pets. Her owner had her since she was 2 months old. Phoenix was surrendered with her two kittens, socks and slippers.
Socialization:
Around strangers Phoenix is very friendly and outgoing. When she plays with adults she is very gentle. Phoenix has no experience with children or any other animals except for cats. Phoenix is relaxed, affectionate, and respectful of other cats. When she plays with other cats she tends to be a bit rough at times but overall is very gentle.
Behavior:
Phoenix has never bitten or scratched a person or animal. She has tried to escape the house and struggles when being given a bath. Phoenix isn’t bothered by being brushed, held, or put in a carrier. Phoenix’s previous owner has never tried to trim her nails.
For a New Family to Know:
Phoenix’s previous owner describes her as Friendly, affectionate, and playful with a very high activity level. Phoenix loves to play a lot and is very affectionate toward everyone she meets. She enjoys playing with balls, wand toys, and bottlecaps. Phoenix is an indoor cat and sleeps wherever she feels most comfortable in the house. Phoenix eats both dry and wet food from the brands 9 lives and Friskies in an open bowl. Phoenix is litterbox trained and rarely has any accidents. She uses a hooded litterbox with clay type litter. Phoenix tends to scratch on the furniture and the walls but has used a scratching post made of carpet.
Intake Behavior:
Phoenix was very relaxed, allowed handling while being collared, scanned and transferred from her carrier to the cage.
