Brooklyn Center

PHILIP – A1046660

I am an unaltered male, gray and white Domestic Shorthair mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 5 months old.

I weigh 5 pounds.

I was found in NY 11203.

I have been at the shelter since Aug 04, 2015.

Philip is a gray and white male cat who was brought into ACC as a stray today. Philip was brought in and taken to Medical for an immediate examination due to the fact that his right eye was bulging out and Philip also had dried blood on his fur. Throughout the Intake process Philip was nervous meowing often and pacing at times but he did allow himself to be picked up and transferred into a new carrier. Philip allowed himself to be photographed inside of his carrier due to the fact that he was nervous. Philip appears to be a friendly cat but will need time to adjust to his new settings.

in dire need of an enucleation. He has a bulging, ulcerated eye that is very close to rupturing. His prognosis is good with an enucleation of the right eye. His left eye is apparently normal at this time.

8/11/15

S/O: OD is unchanged. OD is bulging, ulcerated, and today he appears QAR and painful.

P: Continue pain medication 0.14ml of 0.5mg/ml buprenorphine PO. Needs paper only litter sign and e-collar

8/8/15

S/O: OD IS BULGING, AND PROTRUDING OUTWARD. APPEARS CLOSE TO RUPTURING. BAR

A: DDX- POSS RUPTURING ULCER, GLAUCOMA

P: RECOMMEND NH PLACEMENT, NEEDS ENUC. CONTINUE ERYTHROMYCIN AND BUPRENORPHINE 0.14ML OF .5MG/ML BUPRENORPHINE

8/5/15

Scan negative

M; 5 MO; 4.66 LB

Very freindly during exam; purring

Right eye grey and protruded

Consulted 1067

Administered 0.14cc Buprenorphine 0.5mg/ml

Applied Erythromycin

BARH

Notes: Philip was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying shy behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but interacts with the Assessor, allows attention, allows handle and tolerates all petting. Philip is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but looks at you, calm, relaxed

When spoken quietly: does not come to front but looks at you, calm, relaxed

Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft and relaxed

Reaction to touch: allows petting and attention

Try picking cat up:Philip allows limited handling but prefers not to picked up

Placement Determination: Average
