PERSIA – A1039116
6-24-2015 Manhattan
***GONE – 06/24/15*** Gorgeous Persia was found inside of the finder’s building on 181st and third avenue in the Bronx. The finder lives on the 8th floor and found the cat on the fourth floor. She said that she knocked on all the doors on the fourth floor but no one claimed the cat., so she brought her in. She said that Persia allowed her to carry her and put her into a carrier. She wanted to keep but she cannot afford a pet at the moment. Persia deserves a loving home and not a death sentence. She will make a wonderful companion if given the chance. Please consider making her part of your family by fostering or adopting. Time is of the essence.

She wanted to keep but she cannot afford a pet at the moment. During intake, Persia escaped out of the carrier as I was setting up the kennel. The carriers zipper was broken. She walked around curious of her surroundings. I stuck my hand out and she headbutted my hand and allowed me to carry her and put her into a kennel. She took food and water. She growled when I went to collar her. She had wide eyes and was tense inside of the kennel.

06/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Persia was at the front, meowing to solicit attention. When softly spoken to, she meows again and rubs her cheeks against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Persia remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Persia remains in place, head-butts the assessor’s hand, and purrs when nuzzled against the assessor’s arms. Reaction to being picked up: Persia remains calm and allows handling. Note: Persia was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder had no problems picking her up and bringing her into the care center. She also allowed handling upon intake, but became agitated and growled when the counselor tried to collar her. During her initial medical exam, Persia resisted handling and tried to strike out. Behavior Determination: Experience Persia interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. However, due to her reaction to handling during the medical exam and her willingness to strike out to avoid handling in certain situations, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
