***SAFE 07/10/15 THE SURRENDER SHEET AT ACC SAYS THIS OF 6 YEAR OLD DECLAWED PERLA:When she wanted attention she would rub against or paw at her owner’s legs especially in the morning. She would allow petting on her head and being scratched behind her ears ‘ There is no doubt, from reading these notes PERLA was beloved and a part of her former owners life since a kitten. But when they had to move out of the country this adorable little princess of a cat was surrendered to a shelter known for high rates of ‘euthanasia’. PERLA is perfect-she’s wonderful with her litter box, a little lady and has lived with adults and children. Please save her life-and let her know that she matters-doesn’t she? PERLA needs you!!!

07/01/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/01/15 16:48hrs BASIC INFORMATION Perla is a 6 year old female domestic shorthair cat that has lived with her owner for her whole life. She is being surrendered because her owner is moving out of the country. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Perla is described as an independent cat that sometimes sought affection. She has lived with two teenagers and one adult. When she wanted attention she would rub against or paw at her owner’s legs especially in the morning. She would allow petting on her head and being scratched behind her ears but once she had enough, she would walk away. Perla was kept indoors yet she was allowed a whole floor of her owner’s building to roam since there were no other tenants. When she wanted to be let back inside, she would scratch at the owner’s apartment door. She did not interact with other cats or dogs. BEHAVIOR Perla stayed to herself in her owner’s home. She did not receive baths and she was declawed as a young cat. Perla was accustomed to using a hooded litter box. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Perla is an independent cat that is allowed to roam freely through the hallway of her owner’s apartment building. She would play with balls sometimes. She was fed dry food throughout the day. DURING INTAKE Perla’s pupils were dilated and she was retreating to the back of her carrier while low growling. She allowed to be scanned for a microchip (negative); however she was not able to be collared.

07/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Perla was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, she rubs her head on her litter box and plops down on her side. Reaction to cage door opening: Perla remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Perla head-butts the assessor’s hand and rubs her cheeks on various objects in the cage as the assessor pets her. She may get over-aroused with petting when touched near her rear back; she meows and nips on the assessor’s hand. As per previous owner, Perla has lived with 2 teenagers and 1 adult and was described at as independent cat that sought affection sometimes. She would rub against the owner or paw their leg when she wanted attention. She allows petting on her head and behind her ear, but will walk away when she has had enough. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Perla solicits attention and tolerates petting but may become defensive when pet on certain areas of her body. Due to nipping when she is touched on her lower back, we feel that this cat will do best in a home without children.
