***SAFE 05/19/15*** BEGINNER RATED PEDRO WAS DUMPED WITH HOUSEMATE FOR ALLERGIES AND NOW DUE TO CATCHING A COLD, PEDRO IS SCHEDULED TO DIE! PEDRO is a neutered kitty who was said to love to play, interact with his family and is an all around great cat. PEDRO lived with a young child and was very affectionate toward her. His super sweet behavior showed as he was rubbing and purring for the assessor and enjoyed every bit of attention. PEDRO sadly caught the shelter cold and now the ACC will kill him at NOON Tuesday. DON’T YOU WANT A CUDDLY SNUGGLY KITTY TO KEEP YOU COMPANY?? PEDRO IS YOUR CAT!! PLEASE DON’T LET THIS PURRFECT COMPANION BE KILLED. CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HIM TO SAFETY. AND DON’T FORGET HIS HOUSEMATE BROOKIE WHO IS NOT LISTED TONIGHT!!

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 05/05/2015 from NY 10456, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES. I came in with Group/Litter #K15-012703.

05/05/15 19:34 BASIC INFO Brookie and Pedro were surrendered due to allergies. Their owner got Brookie 3 years ago from her previous owner and Pedro 4 years ago from another shelter. SOCIALIZATION Brookie is friendly/outgoing with strangers. Pedro is shy for a few minutes and then very affectionate. They lived with a 3-7 year old and were relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with her. They play exuberantly with people. They’re relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and play somewhat rough together. They hide from a large, energetic dog. Pedro knew him as a puppy and played with him when he was little. They haven’t bit or scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Brookie and Pedro lightly scratch the couch. They meow in the car. They tolerate baths and hold still if they’re held but will try to get out if not held with one hand. They don’t mind nail trimming, brushing, being put in a carrier, or being woken up. Pedro enjoys being held while Brookie doesn’t mind it. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW The cats’ family describes them as friendly, affectionate, playful, and medium activity. Pedro is shy at first but demands attention from everyone a few minutes after meeting them. He meows back when called or spoken to. He chases shadows including his own. Brookie is independent. He owners describe her as an old soul. She likes to relax, lying on her back or sitting up like a person. Their favorite things to do are play together, be pet by their family, or eat. They follow their family and sit in their lap. They like string, stuffed toys, catnip toys, and laser pointers. They lived inside and slept on the couch. They ate dry Purina indoor food and got tuna as a treat. They are littertrained and doesn’t have accidents. They used a hooded litterbox with crystal litter. They scratched a curved, rope covered scratching board. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Brookie and Pedro were very tolerant and easy to handle-scan (positive), collar, pet, pick up, position for pictures, transfer to new carriers. They didn’t vocalize, resist, or retreat. They appeared as if they would jump off the counter but allowed me to move, pick up, and hold them.

Pedro is shy for a few minutes and then very affectionate. He lived with a 3-7 year old and were relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with her. He played exuberantly with people. Pedro and the other cat are relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and played somewhat rough together. Also, hide from a large, energetic dog. Reaction to assessor: Pedro immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Pedro remains at the front of the cage, soft and relaxed, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Pedro rubs on the assessor’s hand, purrs, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. Placement determination: Beginner Pedro interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
