07/18/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/18/15 14:04 Basic Information: Oscar and Miska where brought in by a client that who was caring for them for about a month. She had taken them in after their owner passed away. The cats are both 3 years old and healthy. The last date of vet care is unknown. These cats are described as active and loving. Social Life and Personality: oscar is normally tolerant of kids. He is used to kids around the ages of 4-6 years old. He has been known to swat at the kids legs while playing. Around other cats Miska is pretty relaxed. He has spent his whole life with Miska and they get along great. They play with each other sometimes but not often. Miska has been around a small dog and get along well with that dog. Recently both Oscar and Miska have been going outside the litter box. This is not a normal behavior for either of them. Both cats are kept only indoors and both have activity levels of medium. They like to play but they love to rest. Behavior Issues: Oscar has been going outside the box for the last few weeks. It happens a few times a week but not every day. He has not been seen by a vet for this problem. Both Miska and Oscar are used to clumping litter in their shared, hooded box. The cats really like wand toys and stuffed toys too. They both love catnip toys and scratching on their post. Miska like to sleep in the carrier while Oscar sleeps on the bed. Behavior during Intake: This cat was very mobile during intake. He did allow me to take his photo, collar him and even pick him up with no issue.

07/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Oscar was calm and relaxed upon approach. He blinks and starts to lip lick when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Oscar becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Oscar was hesitant of touch, but remains immobile as the assessor pets him on his head and back. He watches the assessor’s hand when pet on his back, but relaxes a little and lip licks again. As per previous owner, Oscar is usually tolerant around children. He is used to children ages 4-6 years old. He may swat at the children’s legs when playing. He has been around another cat and a small dog and they get along well. He plays with the other cat sometimes, but not often. His previous owner does note one concern: Oscar has been going outside the box for the last few weeks. It doesn’t happen every day, but he does this a few times a week. He does share the litter box with the other cat and the owners have not consulted a veterinarian about this issue. We advise any potential adopter to be prepared for this behavior, and prepared manage it if it appears in a future home. Methods of managing and attempting to modify this behavior can be discussed with the Adoption Counselors. Behavior Determination: Experience Oscar tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
