11/23/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/23/15 19:07 Basic Information: Opal is a 7 year old spayed female who was found as a stray when he was a kitten. She had to be surrendered because of owner’s allergies. She has no known injuries or health problems and the thing her owner liked most about her was she is nice. Social Life and Personality: Around children Opal is fearful and runs away. Around other cats she is affectionate and respectful. Around dogs she is tolerant but avoids them. She is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. She has a low activity level and can be described as playful, shy, mellow, and affectionate. Behavior: Opal has never bitten a person or animal while with her previous owner. Her previous owner has never attempted to bathe her, trim her nails or brush her coat. She enjoys being picked up and isn’t bothered if she is placed in a carrier. She also isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Opal used clumping cat litter in an uncovered litter box. She liked to play with chasing toys and laser lights. She used a vertical scratching post made of carpet to scratch on. When she was home she would tend to be in her favorite spot under a table. In car rides she meows/cries. she ate both wet and dry Meow Mix and at night she slept under her previous owners bed. Behavior during intake: Opals body was crouched and very low, she didn’t move unless she was coaxed to but allowed all handling. She showed no signs of aggression.

11/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Opal’s former owner stated around children she is fearful and runs away. Around other cats she is affectionate and respectful. Around dogs she is tolerant but avoids them. She has a low activity level and can be described as playful, shy, mellow, and affectionate. Reaction to assessor: Opal looks tense in her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to door opening: Opal remains crouched position at the back of the cage, body held tightly, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Opal accepts the stroke, but shows no interest with touch and slowly retreats further to the back, attempting to hide. Placement determination: Experience / no child Opal tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
