OLIVER – A0977905
Safe 9-5-2015 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
***SAFE 09/05/15***DELICIOUS BLACK AND WHITE COOKIE NEEDS NEW FRIEND-BE OLIVER’S HERO! A volunteer writes, “Oliver is a happy fellow, just watching and waiting and occasionally meowing up a storm. He wants to be free, to play, to explore. Friendly and gentle, always the amuser. You must meet him today. Offer him a toy, sit and chat, pet under his chin. Spend some time with him and break up his daily shelter boredom. Be like Clint and make his day.” Oliver was an owner surrender back on 8/18 due to “personal problems.” He is a shelter return and sadly finds himself back from the very place he hoped to never see again. Tonight, his precious life is in peril and he desperately needs us to advocate for him. Oliver, just 2, is neutered, tolerates all petting and handling and is ready to be your furever friend. Please open up your heart and home to sweet Oliver by reserving him online. Or contact a NH rescue for help with delivery of this darling directly to your doorstep. Even if you can only offer temp safe haven, let a rescue know. Oliver is a great guy who deserves a new leash on life? Can you be the special purrson to make his dreams come true? Please don’t let him down!!!

08/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Oliver immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Oliver remains at the front of the cage, meowing attention. Reaction to touch: Oliver head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. However, after a few stroke he becomes agitated with the touch and began to meow whine and swat at the hand. Placement determination: Experience / no child Initially Oliver solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body he begins to meow whine and swat at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Oliver becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
