*GONE* 08/15/15- Meet Octavia: Octavia is a 2 year old sweetheart who needs vet care immediately. She is severely anemic and needs placement as soon as possible. She has demonstrated very friendly behavior while here in the shelter, and tolerates all handling. Please help this pretty kitty on the road to recovery!

Scan negative for microchip
Intact female
Broke nail on back right foot
Dewormed with Pyrantel
Flea Treatment= Frontline
NOSF
RE-EXAM (8/14/15)
BAR
large amount of bloody urine in litterbox and in cage
blood caked on abdomen, but no wounds found
Pale gums. HR 80-100bpm
CBC HCT 10%, high reticulocytes (I think this is accurate—blood is visibly thin)
retro test negative
open diagnosis:
DDX: coagulopathy, rat poison, hemobartobella, unknown internal injury
will treat for hemobartonella and give vitamin k but prognosis very poor
gave 12.5mg vitamin K PO and 50mg doxy
RE-EXAM (8/15/15)
S/O: QAR, hypersalivating, very pale MM’s. no blood seen in cage, nothing in litterbox. HR 140. friendly. no vulvar discharge.
A: severe regenerative anemia (10%): hemorrhage (bleeding due to coagulopathy vs. bleeding into pyometra
vs. ruptured mass vs. trauma) vs. hemolysis (RBC parasites vs. IMHA vs. toxin)
P: recommend NH placement ASAP (cat needs full work up and blood +/- plasma transfusion)
BEHAVIOR
Octavia hasn’t had a Behavior Evaluation yet but her Medical Behavior is Green and she has tolerated all handling.
