08/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nugget came into the care center as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior or her situation in her previous home. She has been fearful and intolerant of handling since intake, trying to flee consistently from human interaction. She allowed no touch or handling during her behavior evaluation. Reaction to assessor: Nugget looks at the assessor with a tense body, flattened ears, and dilated pupils. Reaction to cage door opening: Nugget tries to flee. Reaction to touch: Due to the highly fearful behavior, touch is not attempted. Placement determination: New Hope Only Nugget is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. She may be poorly socialized and may have negative associations with humans. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
