NUGGET – A1045070

7-27-2015 Manhattan

Previous | Next

***GONE 07/27/15*** Poor little NUGGET! She’s scared to death and who can blame her? This black and white 2 year old was very afraid of the assessor. At first, she was calm and relaxed and even came to the front of the cage and sniffed assessor’s hand. But then hissed and scooted to the back of the cage. She did not allow picking up and so because she’s scared she got slapped with a RESCUE ONLY rating! Please give this scared little girl a place to decompress and feel safe! Contact a NEW HOPE RESCUE NOW to get her to a place where her fear can go away!

07/22/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/22/15 20:49 The client wrote down that the cat may be in heat, is spraying a lot and urinates on bags often. Behavior During Intake: This cat was spraying in the waiting room so I brought her into the admissions office and she continued to spray. When I transferred the cat from the bag carrier to a hard carrier she did hiss a few times but after a few moments she allowed me to pet her on the head and neck. The cat did not want to go into the hard carrier and fled after about 10 minutes of attempting to transfer. We got the cat into the hard carrier with the use of the net.

07/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Nugget was calm and relaxed upon approach. She becomes alert when softly spoken to, but comes to the front and attempts to sniff the assessor. After sniffing, she retreats to the back of the cage and hisses. Reaction to cage door opening: Nugget becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Nugget does not allow touch; she hisses at the assessor’s hand, but sniffs it for a lengthy period of time. She starts to growl, and continues to hiss and shift away from the hand whenever the assessor attempts to pet her. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Nugget is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is cautious in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
