***SAFE 12/06/15*** DUMPED FOR ALLERGIES – NOW NINO FACES DEATH AT NOON – CAN YOU BE HIS RESCUE ANGEL? NINO was found as a kitten by his ex-owner. He lived in a household with children and was tolerant with the teen but apparantly the 4 yr old toddler would torment him and he sometimes scratched. He was also never given a scratch post which is something cats need. With this said, NINO was surrendered with an allergy excuse. Sounds more like a case of a family who just didn’t want him anymore. NINO was headbutting and relaxed at intake, but on his assessment was a bit indifferent which gave him an EXPERIENCE rating. NINO is a great cat who was friendly and affectionate as per his ex owner but now in the shelter is most likely wondering what he is doing there and what is next. We don’ want to have him find out what is next – because the ACC plans on killing this handsome tabby boy at NOON Sunday. LET’S HELP NINO GET A NEW HOME WHERE HE WILL BE LOVED! ADVOCATE FOR HIM AND IF YOU CAN FOSTER OR ADOPT – CONTACT A RESCUE ASAP.

11/21/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/21/15 16:11 BASIC INFO Nino is DMH cat and is about 1 year and 2 months old. His family found him as a stray 1 year ago when he was a kitten. They cannot keep him due to allergies. SOCIALIZATION Nino is friendly/outgoing with strangers. He lived with 4 and 13 year old children. He was relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with the older child but fearful of the younger child. He sometimes scratched him when he persistently bothered him and would not leave him alone while he was hiding. He sometimes bit his adult owner on the hands while she restrained him and trimmed his nails. His bites/scratches have never caused serious injury and have occasionally broken skin, though not in the past 10 days. BEHAVIOR Nino is nervous in the car. He doesn’t mind when someone brushes him, picks up/holds him, puts him in a carrier, or wakes him up. He struggles during baths and bites during nail trims. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Nino’s family describes him as friendly, shy, independent, and medium energy. He follows them and sits next to him. He lived inside and slept with his owners. He ate dry cat food and got meat as a treat. He’s littertrained, used an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter, and didn’t have accidents. Nino scratched walls and furniture but didn’t have a scratching post. INTAKE Nino had a soft body, head butted me, and ate food while I picked him up, scanned him (-), collared him, positioned him for pictures, picked him up, and put him in a kennel. There were lots of other cats in sight and he didn’t react to them. He didn’t resist, retreat, or vocalize.
