06/04/15 10:28 BASIC INFO: Nino A1038731 is an approximately 8 year old domestic medium haired mix cat. He was obtained by the Family as a gift. Nino is being surrendered to the shelter because the Family is moving into an apartment that pets are not allowed. SOCIALIZATION: Nino hides when strangers come to the home, but does come out after a few minutes. The cat lived with a 13 year old teenager and he was very relaxed and affectionate. He plays gentle with adults and with children as well. He has lived with a Cocker Spaniel and he was very relaxed and affectionate with. He has never bitten anyone or animal. BEHAVIOR: Nino tends to get along more with females according to the Owner. he enjoys riding in a car. he does not have any litter box problems. He enjoys taking a bath, having his nail trimmed and brushing his coat. He enjoys being picked up and is not bothered being placed in a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Nino is best described as friendly, independent and quiet. he has a low activity level. The favorite thing that the Owner’s liked about Nino is that he played all day with the dog. Nino’s favorite activities are playing with the dog and sleeping. When home, Nino tends to stay in his favorite spot. he enjoys playing with balls and stuffed toys. Nino has been kept mostly indoors. He sleeps in his cat house. He eats dry food Meow Mix and we keep an open bowl for him. He uses an open litter box with clumping litter. He scratches on a cardboard and a tree trunk with rope on it. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE: Nino was a little fearful upon Intake. He did allow for a photo once inside kennel.

Reaction to assessor: Nino hisses and growls at the assessor upon approach. When softly spoken to, he continues to hiss and growl, and starts to lip smack. Reaction to cage door opening: Nino charges by the opening, spits, and tries to swat. Reaction to touch: Nino does not allow touch; he starts to yowl and swat at the assessor’s hand while growling and spitting. As per previous owner, Nino hides from strangers at the home but comes out after a few minutes. He has lived with children and adults, and is relaxed and affectionate with them. He plays gently with both adults and children. He has also lived with a Cocker Spaniel, and was relaxed and affectionate with it too. According to the owner, Nino tends to get along more with females. They described him as described as friendly, independent and quiet with a low activity level. Behavior Determination: NH ONLY Nino is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, scratch, bite, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
