***GONE 10/18/15*** MOOKA IS AN AFFECTIONATE KITTY WHO WAS DUMPED FOR ALLERGIES – NOW THAT SHE HAS A COLD, SHE IS SCHEDUED TO DIE FOR IT! MOOKA’s owner had this spayed girl since she was a kitten. Now it seems MOOKA has been dumped due to allergies and this gorgeous tuxie girl will now be killed because she caught a cold the ACC gave her. She is about 4 years old. MOOKA was said to be very affectionate with her owner but was shy and ran from a 3 yr old grandchild when they visited. MOOKA may need a bit to regroup but all she needs is a chance and you will have a WONDERFUL cat companion. GIVE MOOKA A DEATH ROW PARDON TONIGHT!! CONTACT A RESCUE TO OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT.

10/03/15 13:11HRS Mooka is a 4 year old cat that has lived with her owner since she was a kitten. She is being surrendered because her owner’s relative is allergic to her. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Mooka is described as independent but affectionate. She lived with in a single adult household. When her owner’s 3 year old grandchild would visit, Mooka would normally stay away from the child. She would hiss at the child when the child approached her. She never interacted with other animals BEHAVIOR Mooka was accustomed to grooming herself but would allow her owner to wipe her down with a wet cloth every other week. She enjoys being brushed and sometimes being held. When people visit she would stay to herself. She is litter box trained and accustomed to using an uncovered litter box. When she wants attention she would paw at her owner with her claws retracted. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Mooka likes playing with cat balls. She uses cardboards scratching post but has scratched at her owner’s leather sofa. She is accustomed to eating dry cat food 2x a day and occasionally canned tuna fish. She would sleep at the foot of her owner’s bed. DURING INTAKE Mooka was hiding in the rear of her carrier. When she was allowed out of her carrier, she attempted to hide. She was able to be collared but eventually began to get scared and started to breathe hard with her eyes dilated. She started to hiss when she was touched afterwards and was transferred to her carrier.

The previous owner reports that Mooka has lived in a single adult household. She would normally stay away from a 3 year old child when they visited and hiss when the child approached her. She has never interacted with other animals. She enjoys being brushed and sometimes being held. She usually stays to herself when there are visitors. When she wants attention she would paw at her owner with her claws retracted. She was described as independent and affectionate. Reaction to assessor: Mooka was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mooka looks at the assessor and inches closer to the front, but remains hesitant and starts to breathe rapidly. Reaction to cage door opening: Mooka remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Mooka lowers her head and remains in place for petting. She slowly warms up to the assessor and appreciates attention, but she lip licks and seems wary of the environment. Behavior Determination: Experience Mooka tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
