MOMMA – A1046965
8-31-2015 Brooklyn
***GONE 08/31/15*** MOMMA is the sweetest word and definitely describes its namesake, MOMMA! This 1 year old female had been surrendered because the previous owner could not keep MOMMA and her 2 month old kittens in the apartment. But MOMMA gets along with other cats and children! She’s said to be very “gentle around them both”. But HAS NOT been around dogs. She may have a form of aggression behavior that is petting induced so its been the assessor’s determination that she get an EXPERIENCE rating! PLEASE offer to FOSTER or ADOPT MOMMA! Many behavior findings can be affected by conditions at the ACC! Give her a CHANCE! She just may surprise you!

08/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Momma was calm and relaxed upon approach. She comes to the front to sniff the assessor when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Momma remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Momma head-butts and begins to purr, but starts to growl and sway her tail roughly from side to side. She doesn’t strike out during the interaction, but grows tense and seems wary of the environment. Reaction to being picked up: Momma becomes stiff and struggles away from the assessor’s arms. As per previous owner, Momma enjoys being around other cats. She plays gently with other cats and has experience around children. She plays gently and excitedly when playing with children. She was kept mostly indoors, and was described as playful and friendly with a medium activity level. She is litter box trained and rarely has accidents outside of the litter box. She had 1-2 accidents in the home when her litter box was not clean. She hasn’t had an accident for over 2 months. She tends to follow people around the house when she is comfortable around them. Behavior Determination: Experience Momma solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins growl. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Momma becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. We recommend any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
