11/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Moccasin was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was very nervous upon intake and became defensive with handling throughout the intake process and during her initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Moccasin was inside a hidey den upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Moccasin does not display a reaction. Reaction to cage door opening: Moccasin remains immobile. Reaction to touch: Moccasin’s ears bent flat against her head and she attempts to flee to avoid interaction. She did, however sniff the assessor’s hand and very slowly opened her mouth and slowly bit down. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Moccasin is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to bite, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
