***SAFE 11/21/15*** MITCHY has just been DITCHED because of child conflict within the home. The 1 and a half year old was purchase a month ago from another owner. MITCHY was around the families’ 2 year old who would grab, chase and carry her around. The child also would wake MITCHY out if a sound sleep and grab her. So you see,its not a conflict per say, its an unruly child who was not properly taught how to attend to an animal. Now MITCHY sits on death row,all because of this! PLEASE offer to FOSTER or ADOPT her and give her a HOME with experience and love!

11/03/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/03/15 16:24 BASIC INFO Mitchy’s family purchased her 1 month ago from her previous owner. They surrendered her because she doesn’t get along with the child in the home. SOCIALIZATION Mitchy is shy with new people for a few minutes. She lived with a 2 year old child and avoided her. The child would chase her, grab her, pick her up, hold her, and carry her around. Mitchy would struggle to get away, scratching her in the process. She also would pet and grab Mitchy while she was resting or sleeping, causing her to strike and scratch her. Her most recent scratch broke skin and occurred on 11/4/15. Mitchy has not scratched or bit any other people or animals. She allows adults to handle her. Mitchy lived with a small dog and was relaxed, playful, affectionate, and played somewhat rough with her. BEHAVIOR Mitchy doesn’t mind when someone picks her up, brushes her, puts her in a carrier, or wakes her up. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Mitchy’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, shy, independent, talkative, and medium energy. She follows her family around and likes to play with straws and catnip. Mitchy lived inside, slept with her owners, and ate dry Meow Mix food. Mitchy is littertrained and used her uncovered litterbox with clumping litter without having accidents. Mitchy scratched the couch but didn’t have a scratching post. INTAKE Mitchy had a soft, relaxed body while we pet, scanned (-), collared, picked up, positioned for pictures, and put her into a kennel. She was easy to handle and didn’t resist, retreat, or vocalize.

11/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Mitchy is shy with new people for a few minutes. She lived with a 2 year old child and avoided her. The child would chase her, grab her, pick her up, hold her, and carry her around. Mitchy would struggle to get away, scratching her in the process. Mitchy is described as friendly, affectionate, shy, independent, talkative, and medium energy. She allows adults to handle her. Mitchy lived with a small dog and was relaxed, playful, affectionate, and played somewhat rough with her. Reaction to assessor: Mitchy comes to the front of the cage – soliciting attention, rubbing against the cage front, and reaching out with paws. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mitchy stays at the front – continues to solicit attention, rubbing against the cage front and purring. Reaction to cage door opening: Mitchy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Mitchy solicits petting and attention – rubbing against the assessor’s hand, meowing, and purring, Reaction to being picked up: Mitchy jumps calmly back into her cage, then immediately turns around and solicits further attention. Behavior Determination: Beginner Mitchy interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. A 2-year-old in her previous home persistently chased and carried Mitchy around despite her signals of discomfort, and Mitchy would sometimes escalate to a swat or scratch, one time breaking skin. She has not bitten. We feel that her behavior is appropriate for first-time adopters, but based on her response to this child we recommend that, for her comfort, any children in the home are calm, cat savvy, and will respect Mitchy’s signals.
