MISHU – A1056940
Gone 11-18-2015 Manhattan
**GONE 11/18/15** Something doesn’t add up in MISHU’s surrender story. This SPAYED cushy kitty lived with 2 kids that she was afraid of, and her former owner describes her as being “shy,” yet she was brought to the ACC because one of those kids was allergic to her. What? MISHU would hardly have been chasing after the kid and rubbing her soft, pretty fur all over him; did those folks even consider any options that could have allowed MISHU to stay at home? Well, given that her most recent owners had never taken her to a vet, it’s clear that meeting the needs of MISHU was never a priority for them. This gentle lady is scared at the ACC and earned an EXPNOCHILD rating on her behavior evaluation. MISHU needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to save her life, tonight!

11/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
The former owner states that around strangers Mishu is shy and fearful. Mishu has lived with 2 children but the they were afraid of her so she does not interact with them. Mishu has never been around dogs or cats so the former owner has no idea how Mishu would react around them. Reaction to assessor: Mishu looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Mishu remains crouched position on her cage bedding, relaxed body posture, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Mishu stands in place then began to head-butt the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head. However, along the body she began to grumble in place and hiss, but continues to seek attention. Placement determination: Experience / no child Initially Mishu solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to grumble and hiss at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Mishu becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
