09/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Note: Mishu was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder states that she would run up to them when called and allowed them to pet her and pick her up. She was very wiggly during intake, but became tense when placing her into kennel. She allowed all handling during her initial medical exam, but was growling. Reaction to Assessor: Mishu was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mishu meows and begins to purr lightly. Reaction to cage door opening: Mishu retreats to the back of the cage. Reaction to touch: Mishu inches closer to the assessor’s hand and head-butts when touched. She leans onto the assessor and continues to purr, but hisses randomly and watches the assessor’s hand throughout the interaction. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Mishu is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Jasper becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
