MIKE – A1049628
Gone 9-1-2015 Brooklyn
***GONE 09/01/15*** MIKE IS ONLY 9 MONTHS OLD and only got to the ACC on 8/29/15. That means MIKE, who is just a big, UNNEUTERED male kitten was given not even 3 days to live here! MIKE was brought in by his former owner who states he was ‘unpredicatable and aggressive’. Well, MIKE hasn’t been neutered-and for some males young adolescence can be a time of raging hormones and often boisterious behavior. There was also a 4 year old child in the home and it could be well that there was some teasing going on to MIKE. MIKE was also only fed dry food, which has a high sugar and carb content and can cause behavioral issues as sugary cereal can with children. MIKE HAS GOTTEN A BAD RAP AND WILL DIE FOR IT! MIKE needs to be neutered, he needs a decent diet, and he needs a home or foster with somoene who will be kind, patient, consistant and calm. Very often cats who have behavioral issues have them from either physical pain or being emotionally abused, or have a high activity level that isn’t paid attention to. MIKE’S LIFE WILL BE FOREFIT tomorrow without a foster or adoptive home. If you believe what has been said, consider that MIKE is not even on this earth a year. There are no bad cats-just BAD OWNERS! Save MIKE! Prove to ACC that he’s a good boy with charm and charisma…but to do that you’ll have to network with a rescue-because the ACC has clomped on poor MIKE the ‘Rescue Only’ label to make life harder!!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Mike has lived with two adults and a 4 year old child. They reported that Mike is unpredictable. He is friendly one moment, but attacks anyone who walks past him. He hasn’t been around other cats or dogs, so his behavior around them is unknown, but the owner’s recommend he goes to a home with not children. His activity level is high and was kept indoors only. Reaction to Assessor: Mike does not come to the front, but remains neutral in his cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mike focuses on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Mike becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Mike hisses and shifts away from the assessor’s hand. He doesn’t allow touch; he hisses and swats. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Mike is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to bite, swat, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
