08/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Midnight Sky came to us as an owner surrender on 8/12/15. It was reported by the previous owner that Midnight Sky is fearful when she is around children. She will either hide or become reactive when interacting with children of all ages. In addition, the owner stated that Midnight Sky may scratch furniture, and may scratch humans when they attempt to pick her up. She is described as “playful confident assertive aloof talkative and independent.” When approaching her kennel she can be seen hiding at the back of it while very alert. She tried to retreat further into the kennel when opened, but did allow the assessor to touch just her head very softly. When the assessor attempted to touch the rest of her body Midnight Sky will move away very quickly, and began to hiss at the assessor. Reaction to assessor: continues to hide (was hiding when you approached cage) (3) When spoken to quietly: continues to hide (3) Reaction to cage door opening: becomes stiff, alert, tail flicks (3) Reaction to touch: moves away from you to avoid being touched and hisses (3) Placement Determination: Experienced Home without Children Based on all the information collected, Midnight Sky appears to be a more independent cat, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
