07/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mia’s former owner stated he is friendly around strangers but has never lived with young children. He does play gently with adults. Mia has never lived with another cat or a dog. that he scratches on the wall, and he urinates on soft surfaces. Mia’s previous owners report that he was eliminating (urinating) outside the litterbox for 2 years on soft areas. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. Reaction to assessor: Mia looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Mia remains crouched down on his cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Mia stares and slowly leans into the hand to sniff then began to head-butt and accept the stroke, but remains immobile in place. Placement determination: Experience Mia tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
