05/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/06/15 17:28 BASIC INFO Mew’s owner got him from his previous owner when he was a kitten almost 3 years ago. She surrendered him because she doesn’t have time for a cat. He strains to urinate. He gets bloody urine if he eats dry food. His owner hasn’t taken him to the vet. SOCIALIZATION Mew is shy with strangers for a few days. He lived with 2 children ages 8-13 and is playful with them. He doesn’t let the younger one pick him up. He plays gently with people. He hasn’t bit/scratched anyone. He lived with his brother. They were affectionate and groomed each other. Mew mounted him. His brother took his food. BEHAVIOR Mew scratches the couch but never had a scratching post. He was fully littertrained and hadn’t had accidents until 8 months ago when he started urinating and spraying in the tub or next to the litterbox a few times per week. His owner sees him straining in the litterbox with no success, so she thinks he just urinates when he feels able to, even if he’s out of the box. He enjoys being picked up/held and woken up. He doesn’t mind being put in a carrier. He’s nervous during nail trimming. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Mew’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, quiet, assertive, shy, and medium activity. He loves attention and affection. He follows his owner, sits on her, and snuggles with her all the time. He likes to play with string. He lived inside and ate wet food. He used an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Mew was had a low body. He was very tolerant and easy to handle-pick up, hold, put in kennel, photograph, scan (negative), collar. He lied down on the counter and then in the back of the kennel with his head down. He has a “sad” expression, with his upper eye lids low.
