The previous owner had her for a whole month before they realized they had “personal problems”! MEEKA has lived with two adults and 3 children, yet she is scared around them,thus the EXPNOCHILD rating! Clearly there’s a story behind THAT! But now,most important, this SPAYED girl needs a HOME! PLEASE, offer to FOSTER or ADOPT MEEKA and turn her broken road into a path to happiness!

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 12/04/2015 from NY 11694, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB.

12/04/15 14:50 Basic Information: Meeka is a three year old female brown and white domestic shorthair who was surrendered due to her owner having personal problems. She was brought online and was with her owner for over a month. She is described as shy, mellow and independent. Personality: Meeka has lived with two adults and three children, she is described as fearful around children and will hide and rarely seek attention. She has not been around cats or dogs. She is litterbox trained and did not have accidents indoors. She has been kept only indoors and has a low activity level. Behavior: Meeka is fearful when held, her body will tense and she will struggle and flee. She isn’t bothered when put in a carrier and will willingly walk in. Her nails have not been trimmed, she has not been bathed, or brushed. For a new family to know: Meeka uses Arm and Hammer Multi Cat litter and an uncovered literbox. She enjoys string, stuffed and lazer toys. Meeka did not have a scratching post at home and would claw at furniture specifically the couch. When home she stends to stay hidden or can be found in her favorite spot. In car rides she is realxed and will sleep. She is fed wet food Fancy Feast brand and is fed three times a day. She usually sleeps in her owners bed. Upon intake Meeka was tense and had a hard body, she retreated to the back of the carrier. Counselor was able to scan (positive); when attempting to collar she began to hiss and growl.

Meeka was bought into the care center due to the previous owner wanting her to have a better home. Meeka has lived with two adults and three children, she is described as fearful around children and will hide and rarely seek attention. She has not been around other cats or dogs. She is litterbox trained and did not have accidents indoors. She has been kept only indoors and has a low activity level. Reaction to assessor: Meeka hisses and growls at the assessor When spoken quietly: Meeka hisses and growls at the assessor Reaction to door cage opening: Meeka retreats to the back Reaction to touch: Meeka relaxes a little and sniffs the assessor’s hand. With a slow approach Meeka allows petting. She likes chin rubs and head rubs. Try picking cat up: Did not attempt due to Meeka still seeming uncomfortable. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child At the time of the assessment Meeka was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children.
