SAFE – 4/20/15 MARVELOUS MEATBALL NEEDS YOU! Meatball is a one year old terrific but terrified tuxedo. Can’t you see the look of fear in her eyes? She was dumped at the shelter on 4/14 after a finder held onto her overnight and then dumped her the next day at the shelter. Meatball was litterboxed trained and had good house manners but was frightened by small children. Sad sigh! This little lady is purrfectly healthy and needs a new leash on life with a new purrson. Could that special someone be you? If you can open up your heart and home to this little girl, please contact a NH rescue for assistance. Won’t you please be marvelous Meatball’s rescue angel?

04/14/15 12:41 During intake would retreat from extended hand and when touched had stiff body but would relaxed after a minute. Allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, pictured, and transferred without aggression. When given food was not interested and when inside new carrier retreated to the back. Finder held the cat overnight and noticed that when her grandchildren (ages 2 and 3) tried to interact with the cat the cat would run away and when the children were persistent she would hiss and swat at them. She appears to be litter box trained using an uncovered box and clumping litter. She had a high level of energy and would scratch on vertical items made out of wood. She was given wet food and ate it.

04/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Meatball looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Meatball remains crouched down at the back of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Meatball leans away from the assessor’s hand then hisses and swats. Placement determination: NH ONLY Meatball is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
