07/01/15 10:42 Basic information Max A1042299 is being surrendered because the owner says that he plays very rough and she says that he is not neutered and that may be the reason why. I offered her low cost spay and neuter options but she refused said that her sister also has allergies and is kept up all night sneezing. His last vet visit was in Februray of 2015. He has no known health issues. Socialization Around strangers, Max is friendly and respectful. He plays well with children and with adults. The owner says that he can be very sweet but will then begin to play very rough but does not break skin. He has not been around other cats or dogs. He has not bitten anyone or any other animal. Behavior The owner says that he does not have any behavior issues. He used to scratch on furniture but does not anymore after she bought him a scratching post made of rope for his nails. He has no litter box problems. She said that she gave him a bath recently and he was tolerant. He does not mind having his nails trimmed or being put inside of a carrier. For a new family to know The owner describes him as playful, confident, independent and assertive. He has a high activity level. At home, he follows the owner around and wants to lay on her lap and to be cuddled. He sleeps on her bed and has been mostly kept indoors. He likes to sleep in high places. He has alot of toys and his favorite is the wand toy. He was being fed friskies but she says he is very picky about what he eats. He dislikes patte and only wants the strips in gravy. He does not eat large quantaties of food. Behavior during intake Max was fearful inside of the carrier. He swatted when trying to open the carrier. We let him settle for a bit and then tried again. He approached the front of the carrier when offered food. He came out of his carrier on his own but when i went to scan(negative) he hissed and retreated and did not allow collaring.

07/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Max was at the front, soliciting attention by reaching out with his paws. When softly spoken to, he meows and continues to reach. Reaction to cage door opening: Max remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Max allows brief touch, but grabbed the assessor’s hand and nips during the interaction. He became stiff after, focused on the hand, and pats it with his paw, but without nails. As per previous owner, Max plays very rough. He is friendly and respectful around strangers and he plays with children and adults. He can be very sweet, but will begin to play very rough without breaking skin. The owner describes him as playful, confident, independent and assertive with a high energy level. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Max solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. He may also be fearful and a little stressed in the shelter. Due to his tendency to nip and play rough, we feel that this cat will do best in a home without children.
