05/09/15 11:38 Basic Info: Max is a 12 year old neutered cat who has no known injuries or medical problems. Social Life and Personality: According to owner he has been around children ages 3 and up and was fearful of them, trying to run away and hide. He did not hiss or swat at them and would avoid contact if possible. He was not around any dogs or cats before so his behaviors are unknown. He was kept indoors only, is litter box trained, and has a medium level of energy where he will sleep the majority of time but will have bursts of energy where he will run around and play with toys. Behavior: He has no bitten or scratched anyone or any animal before. He has been given baths before and is afraid and will attempt to flee but he has not been brushed or had his nails clipped before. He is afraid of being picked up and held or placed into a carrier but he does not become aggressive. New Family Info: He is used to crystal litter (Fresh Step) inside a hooded box. He will play with balls and wand toys and used a vertical scratching post made out of rope and carpet. At home he would rarely seek attention and was fed dry food (Friskies) on a free feeding schedule. Intake Behavior: During intake Max would attempt to flee whenever given the opportunity. Inside carrier would approach extended hand, sniff, and then retreat to back of carrier. Allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, pictured, and transferred without aggression. When touched had stiff body and would attempt to flee. Inside new carrier would retreat to back and when given food was not interested in eating.

Please take note: According to owner he has been around children ages 3 and up and was fearful of them, trying to run away and hide. Reaction to assessor: Max looks neutral in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Max remains lying down on his cage bedding, immobile in place. Reaction to touch: Max accepts the stroke, stands with tail up and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He calmly jumps back into her cage. Placement determination: Average Max interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
